Ericsson returns

Jonathan Ericsson will be back in the Red Wings' lineup against Carolina tonight. Ericsson has been shelved since since Dec. 14 with a knee injury. To make room on the roster, Doug Janik was returned to Grand Rapids. Janik was in Detroit on an emergency recall.

"(Ericsson) has been practicing for a while," said Detroit coach Mike Babcock. "If he wasn't ready to go, he wouldn't be in the lineup."

On Janik, Babcock said: "He was fantastic for us. he did everything we asked."

I was glad to see Ericsson back in the lineup again, but I thought at times he looked a little too rusty. There was one shift in particular where I caught him standing behind the net watching the puck cycle between two of the Canes forwards. Bruce, do you think they rushed him back too quickly, or is this a sign he just needs to get back into the fast pace of the game?
